چکیده

This paper defines a methodology for the oracle selection of the monitors and knobs to use to configure an HPC system running a scientific application while satisfying the application’s requirements and not violating any system constraints. This methodology relies on a heuristic correlation analysis between requirements, monitors and knobs to determine the minimum subset of monitors to observe and knobs to explore to determine the optimal system configuration for the HPC application. At the end of this analysis, we reduce an 11-dimensional space to a 3-dimensional space for monitors and a 6dimensional space to a 3-dimensional space for knobs. This reduction shows the potential and highlights the need for a realistic methodology to help identify such minimum set of monitors and knobs.

An MCDM-DEA approach for technology selection

Technology selection is an important part of management of technology. Recently Karsak and Ahiska (2005) proposed a novel common weight multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) methodology for selection of the best Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) candidates based on a number of attributes. However, Amin et al. (2006), by means of a numerical example demonstrated the convergence difficul...

Hierarchical Group Compromise Ranking Methodology Based on Euclidean–Hausdorff Distance Measure Under Uncertainty: An Application to Facility Location Selection Problem

Proposing a hierarchical group compromise method can be regarded as a one of major multi-attributes decision-making tool that can be introduced to rank the possible alternatives among conflict criteria. Decision makers’ (DMs’) judgments are considered as imprecise or fuzzy in complex and hesitant situations. In the group decision making, an aggregation of DMs’ judgments and fuzzy group compromi...

Role of Resilience in Sustainable Urban Stormwater Management

Typically, best management practices (BMPs) are implemented to help sustainable stormwater management in urban areas. Over recent decades the selection of urban stormwater management measures for a site has been a challenge among urban planners where thecriterion based on flood volume no longer suffices for selecting urban drainage solutions. Therefore there is a need to consider a set of holis...

Evaluation of an Intrusion Detection System for Routing Attacks in Wireless Self-organised Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) arebecoming increasingly popular, and very useful in militaryapplications and environmental monitoring. However, security is a major challenge for WSNs because they areusually setup in unprotected environments. Our goal in thisstudy is to simulate an Intrusion Detection System (IDS)that monitors the WSN and report intrusions accurately andeffectively. We have thus...

The application of fuzzy Delphi and fuzzy inference system in supplier ranking and selection

In today’s highly rival market, an effective supplier selection process is vital to the success of any manufacturing system. Selecting the appropriate supplier is always a difficult task because suppliers posses varied strengths and weaknesses that necessitate careful evaluations prior to suppliers’ ranking. This is a complex process with many subjective and objective factors to consider ...
